Bunsentagung 2015 will take place at RUB

Organiser is the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV

600 guests expected to participate in Germany’s leading conference for physical chemistry

In 2015, Germany’s largest conference for physical chemistry will take place at Ruhr-Universität: in collaboration with the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry, the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV (Ruhr Explores Solvation) organises the Bunsentagung that will run from 14th to 16th May, 2015. 600 participants from all over the world are expected to take part. The main topic at the Bunsentagung will be the emerging research field “Solvation Science” – the science of exploring the interplay between solvents and molecules and materials. This research field plays a crucial role in most industrial applications as well as in living cells. Representatives of the media are welcome to participate in all events. Attendance is free of charge for accredited journalists.

Lecture highlight in Audimax

Bunsentagung is the platform for internationally renowned scientists to discuss current research in the field of solvation science in the Audimax and in the RUB event centre. It opens with one of the conference highlights, namely the public lecture held by Philip Ball in the English language about “Water in the Sciences, Arts and Society” in the Audimax on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the early evening. Philip Ball, a long-time contributor to NATURE magazine, is a freelance science journalist and author of numerous popular-science books. He is a member of the RESOLV network’s Advisory Board. Members of the public are welcome to attend his lecture. On Friday, May 15, 2015, an additional industrial exhibition will take place in the RUB event centre, where renowned high-tech enterprises will be presenting their portfolios to the researchers. Friday night will end on a musical note, with the presentation of ca. 250 posters accompanied by music in the Ruhr-Universität Audimax.
